Blackwater Lib Dems join Green Tax Switch Action Week1.46.11pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 29th Sep 2006
In support of a national week of action, Frogmore & Hawley Liberal Democrats will launch their Green Tax Switch Campaign from a street stall in Blackwater on Saturday 21st October, 2006. The street stall will be located adjacent to the Town Council offices at 12-14 London Road, Blackwater, GU17 9AA commencing 10am until noon. It will feature ambitious Lib Dem plans to cut income tax and switch Britain to fairer, greener taxes to reduce the impact of climate change. Commenting on the proposals, County Councillor Adrian Collett described them as "a radical and fundamental change in Britain's system of taxation. A Liberal Democrat Government will give you an income tax cut and switch Britain to green taxes on things like pollution and carbon emissions instead. How much you then keep of your cut in income tax is entirely up to you. The more you choose to switch to greener living, the more you save - it's as simple as that!" Local Liberal Democrats attended a Rally during the recent Lib Dem Conference in Brighton when the Green Tax Switch Campaign was officially launched by Menzies Campbell MP, the Party Leader and Chris Huhne MP, the party's Environment Spokesperson and architect of the Green Tax Switch proposals. Meanwhile further details of the build-up can be seen at www.greentaxswitch.com where the Liberal Democrats are using an on-line organising tool to co-ordinate activity. More local details can be obtained from Campaign Press Officer Cllr David Simpson on 01252 874459 (Mob. 07740 456439).
