Parking frustration in St Mark's

Sue Gadsby surveying local residents

Sue Gadsby and the St Mark's campaign team have been out and about speaking to local residents. It will come as no surprise that parking is the number one issue people raised us on the doorstep.

Whether it's double parking, local garages illegally parking their vehicles or just too many cars on the streets, parking is still by far your biggest bugbear.

Other parking complaints include: inconsiderate school run parking, abandoned vehicles, parked cars making it hard to pull out, parking during the Air Show, and parking in North Camp. Where it's someone contravening the law, we have passed the information on to the police. In other cases we will be enquiring whether road markings can be improved (e.g. for safety reasons).

But most of the problem is caused by too many cars for the space available - and there are no easy solutions.

However, we will raise these issues at the next "North Camp Parking" meeting, where we meet with Council Officers to discuss parking issues in St Mark's ward.
