Lib Dem Council refuses Pyestock Depot plans

Lib Dem run Hart Council refused the developers' plans for the Pyestock depot. The decision was taken on Wednesday 19th March at 11.30pm after a lengthy 4 hour debate at the Princes Hall attended by around 550 local residents from Rushmoor and Hart. The evening covered the issues through a topic based approach of the following:

Development Plan Policies

Traffic Generation

Noise and Air Quality

Visual Issues (including the Strategic Gap)

Ecological Issues

Employment Issues

Your St Johns Liberal Democrat team attended the whole of the debate and noted the following points that were raised concerning St Johns:

traffic concerns along the Minley link road to the M3; a noise barrier and whether it would be effective in noise reduction; the need for a quiet road surface on the Minley link road (and possible noise levels above that recommended for local residents should the depot be built); visibility of the site from Ively Road; loss of strategic gap between Fleet and Farnborough; ecological damage.

Mr John Thorne, Development Control Manager, also spoke on behalf of Rushmoor Borough Council's strong views against the development.
