Rushmoor Liberal Democrats took a seat off Labour in Aldershot and won a seat off the Tories in Farnborough at this year's local elections.
Lib Dem Paul Bowers beat Labour to become a Councillor for Heron Wood in Aldershot and Crispin Allard bucked the national trend with a significant win over the Conservatives in St Mark's ward, Farnborough.
Paul was 41 votes short of winning Heron Wood in a by-election last year but made no mistake this time winning by 160 votes. Paul is campaigning for better facilities for young people, more policing and a better deal for Heron Wood residents from Pavilion and Rushmoor Council.
Lib Dem Crispin Allard was only 40 votes short of winning St Mark's ward last year. He too, completed his campaign this year with a convincing win by over 240 votes. Crispin stood on a platform of opposing parking charges and protecting the character of North Camp and the South Farnborough Conservation Area.
Crispin joins the sitting Lib Dem Councillor for St Mark's Alistair Mackie, giving the Lib Dems a majority in that ward.
Unfortunately the Tories made two gains elsewhere in Farnborough and the Conservatives retained control of Rushmoor Council.
The full result in Heron Wood was: Lib Dem (Paul Bowers) 564, Lab 404, Con 380.
The full result in St Mark's was: Lib Dem (Crispin Allard) 984, Con 741, Lab 100.
