Urgent action is needed to get lorries away from the North Lane area of Aldershot, says Lib Dem campaigner, Ian Colpus
LOCAL Liberal Democrat campaigner Ian Colpus has called for better access to the Blackwater Valley Road to get lorries away from the North Lane area of Aldershot.
"Residents of North Town have suffered for far too long from heavy lorries thundering along North Lane to get to and from the various local warehouses and factories." says Ian.
"We don't have the Boots lorries any more, but we will have many cars from the new estate plus all the traffic from the redevelopment of the Air-Log site."
"It must be possible to make a connection at Government Road, or even bring an access road along the back of the Peugeot garage site. Maybe the track that runs from Government Road up to North Camp could be tarmaced to give an alternative access route.
Any of these suggestions would help, but nothing seems to be happening!"
Ian Colpus has written to Rushmoor Borough Council demanding that this issue is looked at as a matter of urgency before all the decisions on Project Connaught and the Aldershot Urban Extension are finalised.
"It would be terrible for this opportunity to be missed."
"There was an opportunity to get this right when the Blackwater Valley Road was built, but that was not grasped. We must not let that happen again!"
